Pastors and Cheating

In Uncategorized on June 5, 2009 at 10:44 pm

I want to begin this blog by saying this!  I know ministers are human.  I understand that.

I heard a story recently of a young lady who has a family.  She attends this church and supposedly has some kind of relationship going on with this married pastor!  This breaks my heart!  I have heard these stories time and time again!

My wife and I were talking about this on the road today and I was trying to understand how someone in their right mind could, first of all, cheat on their wife, secondly, be a pastor and do it!  God commands ministers ESPECIALLY to live above these kind of acts.  Don’t forget about all the people in the world who aren’t christians and think, why in the world would I want to be a part of that.  If you are in ministry and are struggling with these things, seek help!  The same God that you are serving is the same God who is bigger than you’re addictions and problems.

Many of these pastors break not only the hearts of their family, but their whole church body!  (Ted Haggard)  Thank God a beautiful story has become of New Life Fellowship in Colorado Springs, CO where he was.  God has completely started reshaping and refreshing their body!

To Pastors (Shepherds) who are struggling,

Please be remind yourselves that Jesus saves!  Jesus saves!  He will take you and guide every step of the way and don’t be afraid to seek help!

With love,

Still Going Strong

In Uncategorized on May 15, 2009 at 2:40 pm

So the weight loss thing is still going pretty good.  I’ve lost thirteen pounds since I’ve started trying!  It’s been tough though!  I’ve started missing the good things like dr peppers and stuff.  I’m still pressing on!

I’m speaking at University Baptist Church this Sunday!  Should be fun!  Thanks for all your love and support!

Blessings

Why Weight?

Me Leading Worship

Me Leading Worship

Oh yes!  I think I came up with the name of this particular blog all by myself.  I felt pretty good about the title, “Why Weight?”, because it can also go, “Why Wait?”  I don’t know, I liked it.  Back to the blog…

I have the opportunity to travel quite a bit.  Sometimes it’s a lot others times it can be slow.  I believed that what happened to me this past weekend may, I said MAY, have changed my life for the better, forever.  Here’s the story.

My beautiful bride, Melissa, has always tried to get me to eat healthier.  I believe that she wants me to do that for more than just the obvious reasons.  She wants me to live longer. Simple enough, right?  Not exactly.  It has been so hard for me to resist certain things like, oatmeal cream pies, dr. peppers, and basically anything sweet.  It wasn’t ever a major problem or anything but I just never felt the need to reject the horrible things that were going into my body!

Two weekends ago, I was in Topeka, KS leading worship for a church for a Disciple Now.  Every night after worship we as a band go to our hotel room and watch a video of us playing that night so we can see what we need to work on.  During this video, there was a shot of me and my electric guitar player, Bill.  Phil, our drummer, randomly says to Bill (who happens to be his twin brother) “Gollee Bill, you fat lard!”  Good night, was this not crazy mean?  I love Phil and his comments make me laugh but this comment said something to me.  ”What is my deal?”  As Phil said that, I was looking at myself and my few chins and couldn’t believe that I had gotten to where I was.  Bill, after Phil’s comment, came back with something very wise.  ”Let’s get skinny, Zeke.”  First thing that popped into my head was, “Holy Cow, not from somebody else!”  For some reason though, this time, I really felt like I was ready to do this.

More than just wanting to get skinny, I wanted to live a few years longer.  It wasn’t that long ago that I got a call from my mother when she was telling me they were taking my dad to a hospital in Ft. Worth because they thought he was having a heart attack!  Dad didn’t have a heart attack after all but all the doctor could say was, if that my dad didn’t get into shape, he was likely to have one in the future.

So, I guess to answer my question, I don’t know why I waited so long.  I don’t necessarily want to live a crazy long life, but I want to live the healthiest life I can.

I’ve made a change!

If you see me, ask me about how getting healthy is going for me!  It won’t be awkward, I won’t be offended!

Thanks for reading!

Blessings!
